Thinking Out Loud
12th February 2020

We are experiencing a rather “unseasonal” start to 2020 where more time and resource is having to be dedicated to the generation of quality candidates.  January and February are typically buoyant months in the recruitment market with candidates coming through in numbers with the ‘New Year, new job’ thought process in mind.  Whether it is Brexit related, a lack of confidence in the job market or that candidates can be incredibly selective, we are having to work increasingly hard to find strong applicants at all levels.  Our resources and technology allow us to invest in this process and really add value to the local clients we work with by putting the time into generating the right candidates.

What does this mean for local businesses?  If you’re using us to recruit, you will still find that our usual calibre of candidate is being sent to vacancies but the pool of candidates we have to recruit from is definitely smaller than expected at this time of year.

Clients beware! If businesses do not move quickly on their applicants they will quickly find employment elsewhere as high calibre recruits are still in high demand. If you are trying to recruit directly, you may well find that you are investing far more time and effort into screening poorly suited candidates to find the right person.  Utilising an effective recruitment agency can really pay dividends in saving your time and ensuring you have enough quality candidates to choose from.
