We are pleased to be working with a market-leading company, a global business and fantastic brand to recruit a Financial Reporting Business Partner to join their close-knit team. The company offers excellent progression and development opportunities, along with the scope to move internationally if desired. We are looking for an ACA qualified Accountant with up to 2 years’ post-qualification experience to work as a key member of the UK finance department.
The role takes responsibility for monitoring risk, internal control, balance sheet integrity and statutory financial reporting within the business to both internal financial and international accounting standards. It would suit a qualified candidate moving straight from practice or somebody with some post-practice, commerce experience.
Overview of role:
- Mapping, developing and then implementing financial processes across the UK business (Month end processes, reporting, statutory accounts, internal controls)
- Responsible for the overall integrity, accuracy and completeness of monthly actual reporting of the UK
- Identifying system or process issues, target them and proactively offer workable, practical solutions
- Overseeing preparation of the annual Financial Statements, including liaising with the UK tax team to assist with the Corporation Tax return
- Assist Auditors in quarterly, interim, and yearly statutory audits – proactively mitigating risks and identifying potential areas of non-compliance
- Providing ad-hoc technical advice to the department as and when needed
- Ensuring integrity of the Balance Sheet through monitoring of reconciliations and regular interaction with the wider European team
- Reviewing the payroll reconciliations on a monthly basis and proactively address issues
- Reviewing and approving manual payment requests
- Submitting monthly/quarterly/annual national statistics forms to the ONS
- Preparing annual adjustments required for the defined benefit pension scheme, including liaising with our external actuaries
- Preparing, reviewing and analysing balance sheet movements and investigating any unusual fluctuations
- Ensuring that Global and UK policies are adhered to and that correct IFRS / UKGAAP application is followed
- Ensuring the integrity of processes being followed by the finance teams
- Highlighting financial reporting issues and making practical recommendations on their solution
- Providing ad hoc financial support and analysis
- Group reporting and conforming to corporate guidelines
- Enabling UK business to report timely numbers and with consistently high quality, being confident that there are no hidden issues
- Working with central teams to ensure integrity of the balance sheet
- Assisting auditors and tax consultants to ensure they are able to complete their procedures in the least amount of time and whilst minimising cost overruns
Candidate requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA)
- Strong excel skills and understanding of complex system applications.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Ideally around 2 years’ post qualification experience
- Excellent communication skills – able to liaise with senior management
- Quick, efficient and accurate worker
- Strong work ethic
