Think Accountancy and Finance are seeking someone for a company in Chesham who need someone to join the company as a Credit Controller/Accounts Assistant who has the opportunity to become the Finance Manager as the business continues with their impressive growth. This is a great chance for someone who is seeking a sole charge role and the opportunity to bring accounts in house for the first time.

The position will have an initial focus on Credit Control, but overtime will take on more responsibilities from the external accountant as well as look to build a team around them.

The company have grown significantly over the last few years and will continue to do so. Therefore, creating a finance team is a key next step for this company.

This is not a trainee role and instead needs someone who has good all round accounts and credit control experience already and is happy to take on a transactional role and grow it into a more varied role over time. 

The position is diverse in nature and will require the successful candidate to be able to manage varied workflows. The role will suit someone with proven experience within a similar role looking to progress and learn within an ambitious business.  

The ideal candidate will be meticulous, and possess strong process based skills. The role demands a need to quickly and effectively respond to multiple requests, whilst maintaining the work standards and controls in place. You will be responsible, have a good team ethic, be numeric, able to plan and prioritise your workload, and be well organised with a strong attention to detail.

Key responsibilities:

• Taking a proactive role in managing credit control functions
• Handling customer account queries
• Monitoring accounts mailboxes
• Processing of credit notes and debit notes
• Maintain accurate transactional and supplier data on Sage200
• Manage the Purchase Ledger including entering invoices, balancing statements and entering payments
• Manage all elements of the credit control function, including payment processing and client engagement.
• Maintain the debtor controls adopted by company including imposing credit limits and ensuring clients adhere to the T&Cs regarding payment.
• Tracking and calculating customer rebates and helping to create an automatic process to reduce manual input
• Credit checking new account applications and setting up new accounts
• Ordering of stock on a weekly basis from our factory and ensuring optimum stock levels
• Raising PO’s for office supplies and marketing materials
• Monthly reporting of accounts receivable and accounts payables
• Managing employee expense claims
• Checking, reconciling and processing supplier bills
• Assisting with processing payments
• Preparing weekly cashflow and payment schedules
• Receipt of purchase invoices from suppliers, matching and entry into system, coding accurately

Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

This role requires someone with a good all-round understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping and reconciliations. The successful candidate will be happy with focusing on credit control to start with and then building the position from there in line with the company requirements.

The company offers a base salary as well as a quarterly bonus, car parking and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
