We are working with a highly successful, international business within the logistics/distribution sector to recruit a Senior HR Manager to be responsible for their team of HR Managers based at several sites in the UK. This is a fast-paced, busy and demanding role that ensures that the senior management teams across 5 sites are receiving fantastic support from their HR teams. The role will offer hybrid working (2 days a week from home but flexibility required) plus some travel across 5 sites and time spent at their HQ in Hertfordshire.
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager/Head of HR with strong management experience, ideally from within a fast-paced sector with large headcount within an operational capacity (logistics, supply chain, distribution, construction, engineering, retail, hospitality etc)
Salary circa £70,000 to £80,000 + car allowance + bonus + healthcare + enhanced pension.
Role overview:
- Through leadership and management of the site HR Managers, have overall responsibility for all aspects of HR delivery across the site network.
- Ensure effective business partnering of the site General Managers, Heads of Department and Senior Managers to drive performance and deliver key performance indicators to ensure world class service to customers.
- Oversee key HR compliance activity through pro-active risk management and partnering with the business to develop actions to remediate identified risks.
- Leadership and ongoing development of the site HR Managers to ensure a strong HR voice is heard throughout the business
- Provide expertise in the field of organisational design to ensure consistency and agility in people structures
- Responsible for dealing with day to day issues arising throughout the UK & Ireland network including involvement in complex ER cases and protecting the business against ET claims
- Ensure distribution centres and corporate departments operate in compliance with Company policies, UK legislation and any specific requirements from the Group or Customers such as the Supplier Workplace Accountability audits and other key compliance activity
- Work as part of Cross Functional Teams and project groups as required to support innovation and service improvements
- Work collaboratively with the Head of HR and network HR team to administer talent management processes and all other life cycle activity
- Coach Managers to improve own performance and their team’s effectiveness
- Work with senior teams to support the talent and succession process ensuring that the people pipeline is well maintained with high performing and well-motivated employees
- Develop and effectively implement compliance in HR policies and procedures, to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvements in day to day management activity
- Advising and delivering on all aspects relating to the HR agenda, including but not limited to, recruitment, training and development and employee engagement/culture
- Develop and enhance third party relationships including recognised trade unions for UK & Ireland
- Effectively use data and analytics to understand trends and assist key decision making. Ensure a robust HR dashboard is in place
Candidate requirements:
- Experienced senior HR professional with a proven track record in fast moving, customer-focussed (ideally unionised) environments
- Flexible to travel across multiple sites in UK as required
- Up to date and in depth employment law knowledge
- Previous involvement in delivering training and development
- Proven ability to coach Managers
- Extensive experience in Line Management of HR professionals and proven ability to manage through a team
- Strong commercial acumen
- Ideally fully CIPD qualified
- Evidence of commitment to personal and professional development
- Strong knowledge of systems with good Excel skills
