We are very happy to be working with a local authority on an initial fixed term contract up until the end of March 2022 for an Event Manager to look after a new scheme and budget targeted at helping the development of Small Businesses across Hertfordshire.

This position will be focussed on supporting and working with small businesses and local authorities to make assessments of what type of events and activities could be funded to support the growth of these businesses.

We are ideally looking for someone with impeccable people and relationship building skills, this is a brand new role and we are hoping to speak with Account Managers, Project Managers, Event Managers, those who have perhaps organised events and activities and handled budgets as well as build new and multiple relationships.

This role will be paying £35,000, plus a fuel allowance to support the travel associated with this role – You will NEED to own your own car and be a driver to do this role.

Your hub for this role will be in offices in Hemel Hempstead, you will be responsible for the development of small businesses across West Herts and when not required in the office or out at meetings the option to work from home is there. Working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, full time hours are required and needed to complete this role.

Duties to include:

• Full budget management – Including raising of POs and invoice management
• Organise events and arrange Q&As – Both online and face to face
• Working with multiple partners and building relationships to understand the needs of businesses
• Managing promotions, communications, and branding aspects of all events
• Resolving problems and guest inquiries before, during and after events
• Selecting training providers and monitoring their activity
• Producing evaluation forms and analysing data to capture feedback
• Approving all activities for events
• Preparing reports and presentations on events
• Any other duties that may lead to the completion of this role and development of businesses

Candidate requirements:

• Knowledge of organising successful events and managing the process before, during and after is ideal
• Event, Marketing or Account management are all ideal skills/roles to have been in – Event, Marketing and proven people skills are what we are looking for, so other roles that can relate are of interest
• Knowledge of procurement processes including management of consultant or training providers
• Highly literate, impeccable communications and people building skills
• Ability to work to budgets and deadlines
