Think Accountancy and Finance are working with a local business in Hemel Hempstead to find an experience, proactive, methodical and independent Management Accountant. It is essential that you will have worked in a Management Accountant role and be well versed with systems to take on the full accounting function of their newly acquired business whilst it is integrated into the wider business.

The newly acquired subsidiary business is based in Cardiff and although the role is based in Hemel Hempstead the successful candidate will be required to travel and spend up to 2-3 days a week in Cardiff for the initial handover period. It is envisaged that the time will reduce after 3 months and then again at 6 months.

This role will include the performance of all accounting entries and functions through to the preparation of monthly management accounts including: 

• Preparation of sales invoices; post sales invoices to Sage; management of debtors; respond to customer enquiries.
• Preparation of sales invoices will include interaction with and maintenance of the company’s contract management database to primarily ensure renewals and monthly recurring invoices are processed on an accurate and timely basis.
• Ensure purchase invoices are matched to purchase orders; post purchase invoices to Sage; reconcile supplier statements; process month end supplier payments; respond to supplier enquiries.
• Ensure all customer based managed service costs are accurately and fully billed onto the relevant customers on a monthly basis.
• Post bank receipts and payments to Sage
• Complete weekly bank reconciliations; reconcile credit card.
• Perform month end procedures including journals for fixed assets, accruals, deferred income, prepayments
• Prepare and maintain P&L and Cashflow
• Review and make suggestions for improvements across the accounting and contract management functions.

The ideal candidate will be a Qualified/Part Qualified management accountant with proven experience in all accounts areas including the review and improvement of existing systems and recommendation and/or set up of new systems.  

You will have strong Excel skills, a keen attention to detail, excellent communication and organisation skills and the ability to work independently, as well as a part of a team. 

You will be working alongside the General Manager and Sales Admin Assistant to proactively manage the effective handover of the accounting function, although you will have continuing support from both persons who continue within the business.
