Business Development Executive – Leighton Buzzard

Our client is currently evolving from one service offering to become an overall go-to solutions provider within their field. We are looking for a commercially minded, technically curious individual. The successful candidate will help develop and convert opportunities with architects, designers, developers and contractors. You will be someone who understands a project, asks the right questions and can identify problems and opportunities.

The role will be predominantly office based in Leighton Buzzard, with occasional travel to customer meetings, project sites and industry appointments. Our client are paying a salary between £30k - £35k with an OTE of around £50k.

Duties Include:

• Develop and progress new and existing project opportunities from initial enquiry through to order.
• Support the Managing Director and Sales Director in converting the business's growing pipeline of opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with architects, interior designers, developers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Understand customer and project requirements.
• Look beyond the initial enquiry to identify wider opportunities to upsell solutions and services.
• Maintain consistent follow-up so that good projects do not lose momentum.
• Attend occasional site visits and customer meetings to understand technical requirements and help resolve project challenges.
• Maintain accurate opportunity information and next actions within the company's CRM.
• Contribute directly to increased sales, stronger customer relationships and repeat project business.

Candidate Requirements:

• Commercially minded, proactive and naturally inquisitive.
• Comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting to be told every next step.
• A technical mindset and an ability to understand how products and construction details work.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to think outside the box.
• Entrepreneurial approach - able to spot opportunities and develop them.
• Confident communicating with all stakeholders.
• Organised, persistent and strong at following opportunities through.
• Comfortable working collaboratively in a growing business.
• Experience within construction or building products would be advantageous.

Please note our client does not expect the successful candidate to arrive knowing every technical detail of their products. A structured period of product and technical training will be provided. As knowledge and confidence develop, the role will expand into larger and more complex opportunities. For someone who demonstrates the right capability and ambition, there is significant scope for the position to grow alongside the business.
