We are working with an extremely exciting global business who are at the forefront of their sector, a well-known, modern and futuristic brand recognised and seen across the UK and worldwide in homes and offices. We are specifically supporting one of their international head offices to recruit a SQL DBA to support their team in the UK on a 4 month contract. 

We are looking for a proactive & organised individual to report into the EU Operations Manager. Responsible for the daily end-to-end deseign, implementiation, management and support to the SQL Servers & Databases as well as supporting on the exciting project of helping the company transition from a private cloud to MS Azure. 

This project will require full time commitment, Monday to Friday, with the position being on a temporary basis with weekly pay for the 4 months period. The position will be paying £25 to £34 per hour (plus holiday pay) dependant on the level of experience and skill of the succesful candidate. 

Overview of duties:

• Database Administration: DBMS management, backup, recovery and reorganization. Installation, upgrade and conversion of DBMS engines as needed. Performance monitoring and tuning. Storage management and capacity planning.
• Data Analysis and Data Base Design: Ability to analyse complex logical data constructs and process flows to design, develop and implement effective data base design solutions.
• Application Configuration Management: Maintain configurable parameters within Microsoft SQL. Define users and authorizations to the Microsoft SQL.
• Design and implement cloud hosting structure
• Assist in determining database solutions to business requirements and develop detailed design specifications that include appropriate input from systems analysts and business partners
• Perform continuous database and storage improvements and optimizations Review, evaluate, analyze and modify existing structure as necessary.
• Provide guidance, suggestions and recommendations for modern technology solutions
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Documentation of systems, procedures and processes

What you need:

• Bachelors degree in computer science or technical field, or equivalent experience
• Sufficient SQL & MySQL database administration experience
• Experience with large relational database management systems
• Experience with Azure databases (SaaS/PaaS)
• Virtulisation, Windows OS, MySQL experience preferable
• Good analytical and/or troubleshooting skills
• Good project management, communication and team skills
• Good personal organization skills
