We are recruiting for a company that has seen huge growth in the last 2 years and are looking to add to their HR team by recruiting for a permanent HR Advisor. Reporting into the HR Manager, the HR Advisor is a generalist role with employee relations being a key area that will need to be supported. We are looking for candidates already at HR Advisor level or ready to step up into this position, with good all-round HR experience and strong ER knowledge being important. This role will be 100% office based so candidates must be able to commute to the Colnbrook area (outskirts of Slough) on a daily basis. On top of a salary of circa £40,000 to £45,000 there is an annual bonus scheme, enhanced pension, private medical and 25 days holiday (+ bank holidays).
Duties to include:
- Act as point of contact for Managers and employees, providing advice and assistance on people issues.
- Working in partnership with managers providing advice and coaching on employee relations issues in accordance with policies, procedures, and best practice
- Preparing offer letters and employment contracts for all new starters
- Overseeing the onboarding process for a new starter.
- Conducting induction meetings with new employees
- Verifying all incoming background screening checks for new starters (references/medical/health)
- Overseeing the probation review process, giving advice on performance and conduct issues.
- Assisting with recruitment process, acting as a point of contact with agencies, screening CV’s, and supporting managers with interviews.
- Overseeing the offboarding process for leavings, calculating annual leave and writing resignation acknowledgement letters.
- Ensuring accurate HR records are kept for all employees including full-time, part-time, casual workers and agency staff, ensuring electronic personnel files are maintained and filing/archiving is completed in a timely manner.
- Preparing HR letters such as disciplinary meeting invitations, outcome letters and change of terms letters.
- Overseeing sickness absence, ensuring return to work meetings are completed, Bradford factor scores are calculated, and appropriate action is taken, and long-term absence cases are managed.
- Attending meetings where necessary to take notes, providing advice and support.
- Updating and maintaining the HR system with all employee data changes.
- Administering the Company’s benefit schemes including, pensions, healthcare, income protection and life insurance.
- Managing the internal training course platform and arrange external training as required.
- Providing HR reports as required.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements that add value to the HR function.
- Supporting and coaching the HR Administrator.
- Assisting the HR Manager in developing and implementing new projects, taking the lead where appropriate.
Candidate requirements:
- Proven work experience at HR Advisor level or similar
- Experience in managing employee relations.
- Good knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business.
- Strong written communication skills, for both informal and formal communication.
- Trustworthy and able to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel packages is essential.
- Well organised, able to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
- Drive, self-motivation, and a positive can-do attitude are a must.
- Hold a CIPD qualification (or working towards)
